Every time I watch this commercial, I get inspired. The highs and lows of the piano music, and the kinetic footage makes me feel I can do anything. It came out during the 2000 Sydney Olympics and I remember after I saw it for the first time, frantically writing down everything I could to remember and find the footage again. I think it’s a combination of the music and how it’s shot that really gets my creativity flowing. The colors, too, are the colors of hard work, getting up early in the morning to be the first one on the field, practicing your sport and being your best.
Working on sketches of men’s sportswear, I used color to capture that same early morning feeling of drive and possibility.
I’m going to the West Coast later this month to visit family and I thought I could also try and speak with the people at Nike corporate while I’m there. I can see if they need help on special projects or just network. I’m familiar with the brand because I used to work for a license of theirs. Hopefully, that will help me get my foot in the door.
Enjoy the sketches and video! -
