It’s great to have a book tailored to the subject of fashion illustration. Hats off to Julia for bringing together a collection of artists who take the time out to do what they do best and are willing to share their knowledge with others. This is a collection I did for my clothing line Brentwood last season. (See more pics below.) I wanted to explain to you that it doesn’t take a “ish” load of money to market a collection granted you understand your customer and what they want. This strategy will drastically cut down on your marketing costs to the point you can redo the lookbook if you don’t get it right the first time.

A simple thing like changing a dress form can save a lot of money. We changed our form to the Alvanon form recently. They’d been working with old Wolf forms. The problem with old Wolf forms is they are just not made like a human, and when you start to use those forms as a base, your garments are bigger and too boxy to reflect how people are.

Another designer who Morimoto beamed about was Japanese brand Sacai. Morimoto flipped through The News’ published mock newspaper from this season, looking for examples of Sacai’s work.
